Don’t Shoot The Messengers!
On April 24th of this year I received an email from Jim DuBreuil at ABC to meet him, Juju Chang and their film crew at Old Stone House Park in Lakewood Colorado. This was a location of one of Stan Romanek’s previous sightings. They were coming into Denver to interview Stan for an upcoming ABC show and asked me if I wanted to do a quick interview too! Jim and I had talked previously over the phone discussing various UFO sightings and abduction stories, so he was quite familiar with who I am, and my investigations. What I liked about Jim was, “He’s up-front”. He said he was the biggest skeptic when it came to Ufology, and I applaud him for his honesty. I told him as a UFO Investigator I have to be a skeptic too if I’m going to invest my time working on a case. Out of the majority of sightings I get, a very small amount turn out to be unknowns. These “unknowns” are what we invest our time and money on.
The average of “unknowns” are getting larger though as the public becomes more experienced on what to look for and what to report pertaining to UFOs. So hence the title, “Don’t Shoot The Messenger” we need to inform the public.
In a previous post I stated how I thought Juju Chang was not as skeptical as she led on to be. This is my personal opinion based on first impressions. Usually my first impressions are pretty good. Well, now we have a couple of “known” skeptics interviewing us possibly looking for information which could agree with their skepticism or at least “tip the scales” a bit. As investigators our job is to relay the information to the public. The skeptics will fire back with their expert witnesses, so ultimately it’s up to the public to make their own decisions about the topic. This is a Democracy you know.. well at least we think it is.
Well the showed aired, “ABC Primitive Outsiders” venturing into the world of Alien Abductions. We all knew how it would turn out, we’ve done these interviews before. Nobody expected ABC to come out and say, “Aliens Exist!!, thankyouverymuch.” As a good friend of mine “Peter Robbins” stated in his lecture at this year’s MUFON Symposium; “There will be no disclosure this year or next year”. Why? Hell look around you. It’s up to us, “The public” to disclose this information. It’s up to the media shows to turn good ratings if they want to succeed. This is a business and the Jim’s and Juju’s all have to answer to someone else too! No conspiracy here, although there is a hit list of what they can say or can’t say, but that’s another post. So they have to listen to their management just the same as we do. Well, some of the email posts I’ve seen about the show are really disturbing. Here’s just a couple of the many I’ve received.
“Possibly the worst was Juju spitefully telling a supportive wife of one abductee that the woman was “the biggest fool” and that she should leave her husband. This woman was someone who was sought out by ABC to appear on the program, only to be ambushed and humiliated.”
Really? Ambushed and humiliated? This was a journalist’s attempt at a hard hitting question for ratings. That’s all. If you’re going to talk about UFO’s on national TV, you better be ready for the tough questions handed to you. Here’s another email tid-bitt.
“ABC is working for the government helping them cover-up the existence of alien visitation, and Juju is the ring leader!”
Juju Chang is a journalist and ABC has a pre-formatted template which determines how their shows are put together. It’s all based on ratings. Although, Juju could be secretly working for a shadow government here in the USA which has technology 50 years more advanced than we are aware of.. (not being sarcastic, actually heard that one too!) Here’s one Juju asked me.
“Is Stan crazy?”
Another hard hitting question which caught me a little off guard which caused me to “smirk” a little. Why? Because at that time I remembered a story Stan had told me in which after an abduction, he was returned home in a tight woman’s night gown. I remember him saying, “The gown hung down just below my junk!” I don’t care who you are, that’s funny.
“Lord I apologize to the Starving Pygmies down there in New Guinea”
What the show didn’t air was what I added after my answer. I said, “After everything that’s happened to Stan and is still happening to him, he would go crazy if it wasn’t for the support of his family and friends. Hell I would go crazy too!”
Another good friend of mine, Rick Nelson wrote in an email in which I agreed; “The number of airtime minutes or column space devoted to the subject in the main stream is consistently increasing. The number of credible witnesses interviewed for presentation is increasing as the number of skeptics/debunkers are becoming fewer (the weighted proponents is slowly shifting to the positive). The airtime minutes or column inches are methodically being shifted from naysayers to believers. The caliber of testimony has been edited so the proponents of UFOs/ETs sound more believable and the skeptics are less believable.”
Rick has it right on! These shows “believe it or not” are getting better putting UFO related information out. It doesn’t matter about ABC’s pre formatted cookie cutter templates, what matters is, “They put the information out!” They could have just blown this off and not aired it at all, but thanks to Jim and ABC, at least the information got out and a hell of allot better than it used to be! If you want to talk conspiracies, then let’s discuss a slow disclosure scenario, informing the public little by little so it won’t be a big shock when ABC finally comes out and says, “We have undisputed proof that extraterrestrials have been and are visiting this planet!” Once again, “thankyouverymuch”.
This event will eventually happen, but until then we need to encourage ABC and other networks to put out this information no matter how much we may disagree with their format. Not everyone is on the Internet so the TV viewing public needs to see this data and decide for themselves. This is the best we have to work with at this time; So let’s not blow it by insulting journalists and major networks to never want to run a show like this again. Remember they’re human too and their feelings get hurt just the same as ours. (or are they human?) he he
(Now a quote from my soap box)
“I guarantee you, the public is getting allot smarter about this subject and can read between the proverbial lines of bullshit, and it’s our job to keep feeding them that bullshit!”
(well that didn’t come out right)
