Alien Abduction Investigations
Being an experienced and professional UFO/Paranormal Field investigator, I get a lot of emails from people asking for my help. Out of all the emails I get asking for my advice or for my help with their personal Paranormal experiences, the ones I don’t look forward to are, Alien Abductions.
First I need to clarify something, I refer to myself as a UFO/Paranormal investigator. The word Paranormal covers all the bases from ghosts, to aliens, to Bigfoot to Loch Ness! The word Paranormal basically means anything beyond the scope of normal scientific understanding. Some people seem to think the word Paranormal only pertains to Ghost investigations where in actuality it doesn’t, so for those people I always say I’m a UFO/Paranormal investigator so they know I do both. Anyway…
Alien Abductions are definitely paranormal and the investigations are really tough to do. Besides needing to have many years of UFO investigations under your belt, you also need to have taken at least some psychology classes from college or at least read a few books on behavioral sciences. Abduction cases are not black or white but Grey. (pun) You really need to think outside the box on these.
Back in the day I would treat abductions like any other investigation but quickly learned through experience, that you can’t do that. There is no positive outcome from those types of investigations and now, there are extreme liabilities you have to be aware of.
I had one case years ago in which two people who claimed were abducted in broad daylight also had implants in their arms in the exact same location. They had x-ray proof of the implants so I contacted famed pediatric surgeon and UFOlogist Dr. Roger Leir to speak with them. Dr. Leir at the time was removing implants from abductees and through lab analysis was learning a tremendous amount of information. One thing he told me was the implants he had removed, no matter where on the body they were, all had “Median Nerves” attached to it. The median nerve is responsible for touch, pain and temperature sensations usually found on your hand near the thumb and fingers.
If you do a Wikipedia search on Dr. Leir, the information about him is more negative than positive but that makes sense when you see where the information was referenced. Mostly from the scientific and skeptic community. Since I’ve seen first hand alien contact evidence, I don’t pay much attention to those people who don’t think abductions can exist.
Well after talking with Dr. Leir about my witnesses, he decided he would take the case and all further contact was between him and the abductees. Why? Because alien implants are out of my field of expertise and it would be wrong for me to improvise on something I really don’t know much about.
After a couple of weeks from my initial contact with Dr. Leir, I got a phone call from him. He was trying to set up arrangements to fly the couple to his office in California so he could remove the implants. You see they had both initially agreed to have the implants removed by him. Well after numerous calls trying to contact them with no prevail, he called me. I then went to their home, and it was completely vacant. I asked a neighbor if they knew where the couple moved to, and the neighbor said, “I guess they left during the night, because I saw no moving truck or trailer.”
I then contacted Dr. Leir and updated him with what I learned and his response was, “Oh no, not again!” I guess in the past this had happened, the abductees just vanish with all their belongings.
Now if you ask me for my folder on this case, well… it’s gone too! Either I left it at the abductee’s location or it just got misplaced, either way a simple polygraph test will prove this story is true.
So, is there liability issues associated with this type of case? If these people just vanished and I was actively investigating them, then I could be considered a suspect in their disappearance. Well after further conversations with Dr. Leir about this, he believed the couple were just scared, didn’t want to deal with it anymore, and just moved. It happened many times with him, and he really found no evidence that his potential patients just vanished off the face of the Earth. Now they could have been asked by “someone” to drop the investigation so that would be another consideration.
As for Dr. Leir, he passed away on March 14th, 2014 at the age of 78 in Thousand Oaks, California. The cause of death was determined to be a heart attack. If you want to learn more about Dr. Leir and his investigations, he had written multiple books and they are available on Amazon. (link below)
Another “big” disappointing abductee case I had was the Stan Romanek case. Stan claimed to have been abducted multiple times by aliens. His claims included, being implanted, being injured by the aliens, being repaired by the aliens, being able to telepathically communicate with the aliens, and also fathering alien/hybrid children from beautiful brunette women that were also abducted. (Ok, that part was interesting. ;-}
I’m in the the documentary film, Extraordinary: The Stan Romanek Story, but at the time I was being filmed for the documentary, I had started noticing something was wrong with this investigation.
Stan wanted me to be his personal investigator but I wouldn’t agree to that, but I did spend a lot of time around him, his family and his friends. After a few months of watching what was going on, I started realizing something didn’t seem right, it appeared to me he was faking evidence. All previous evidence showed he really had an alien encounter at one time, but it appeared to have stopped. I think he had acquired so much attention from his abduction stories that in my opinion, he started faking evidence to keep getting the attention he was now craving.
He was mentioned in many tabloids internationally and was a guest on many talk shows, but he started getting sloppy with his fakes. During one particular video interview, the host caught him purposely making a noise with his hand and then claiming it was paranormal. It appears Stan’s personal camera view he was watching was zoomed in and he couldn’t see his hands, but the interviewers camera view of him was full screen and he could see Stan’s hands. He actually saw Stan’s hand move and make the noise. Also around that same time frame Stan failed a polygraph test paid for by the Coast to Coast radio show. Stan contacted me about the test asking if the tests were valid, I told him they’re not admissible in court, but law enforcement agencies like mine, use them during the hiring process.
I decided to back-off my investigations with him and observe from afar. It was a really good case, not so much the abduction part, but more of a human behavioral case involving an abductee. A really good learning experience for future cases. Well while I was in Southern California contracting, I got a “panic” call from him stating local law enforcement came into his house under a warrant, and confiscated his computer and other related things. I told him he had nothing to worry about if he hadn’t broken any laws, and that local law enforcement was just doing their job and it wasn’t personal.
I was a volunteer Deputy Sheriff for about eight years in Colorado and was involved in many warrant searches including with our SWAT team. There’s nothing personal about these searches, just following orders and following the instructions on the warrant issued by a judge.
On August 8, 2017, Stan was found guilty of felony possession of child pornography. He denied ever possessing child pornography on his computer claiming he was set-up by the government and local law enforcement. Well as a former Deputy I knew local law enforcement could care less about someone claiming to be an alien abductee and setting them up, so the child pornography accusations had to come from somewhere else.
The FBI has a department that tracks and looks for sex offenders. One way the agency can locate sex offenders is to monitor certain websites that cater to sex offenders. The agency, with a warrant, can introduce malware software on let’s say, child porn sites. When an outside personal computer logs into the site or visits the site continuously, then the FBI’s malware software will then back-track the visiting computers and capture their Internet protocol address. (IP address)
IP Address: A unique string of characters that identifies each computer using the Internet Protocol to communicate over a network.
Once the FBI has the computer’s IP Address, they subpoena the Internet provider and get the computer owners name and physical address. Once the FBI knows who owns the computer, a search warrant is granted using local law enforcement to go into the home and confiscate computers, hard drives, cd disks and so on. This is what most likely happened to Stan Romanek.

On August 8, 2017, Romanek was found guilty of felony possession of child pornography. On December 14, 2017, he was sentenced to serve two years in a community corrections facility. He is now a registered sex offender in the level 3 program for severe deniers. He is unable to use computers unmonitored or contact children under 18, without special approval. Romanek was resentenced on November 30, 2020, to 10 years of sex offender intensive supervised probation for violating the terms of his original sentence.
Stan definitely stepped over the line, I personally think he wasn’t into child phonography but was doing something else with the pictures he was downloading to increase his lie; possibly using the pictures he downloaded to create alien/hybrid children pictures he claimed he had. If he would have taken random children’s pictures from common websites, their faces could be identified. Taking children’s pictures from Porn sites would be more difficult to identify by his followers. Well, that’s just a thought.
As for a liability on this investigation? Well first as an investigator I was brought into this investigation under false pretense, I was lied to, I put myself into harms way during my investigations, and.. If I had downloaded or uploaded any files from Stan’s computer for my investigation, then I could have been dragged into Stan’s criminal case. I dodged a bullet on that one, but Stan didn’t.
Now for the real abductees, like Travis Walton who’s a friend of mine. This guy is the real deal, with multiple polygraphs under his belt, he has never failed a test yet. Travis’s experience wasn’t really an abduction, which is taking someone against their will, but much different. On November 5, 1975, he was accidently injured during a UFO encounter and the residents of that UFO took him and repaired him. Five days after he was taken, he was found walking alone on a highway, confused and bewildered. This is a fantastic case and if you don’t know who Travis Walton is, then you must have just fallen off the Turnip truck. Today’s abduction investigations are much harder to do, due to many circumstances. One of the episodes on my TV show Alien Highway, called “UFO Terror”, was about a man who suffered PTSD, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder which some of our military veterans suffer from.
Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a psychiatric disorder that may occur in people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event such as a natural disaster, a serious accident, a terrorist act, war/combat, or rape or who have been threatened with death, sexual violence or serious injury.
In the case from the “UFO Terror” episode, the witnesses’ PTSD came from an Alien Abduction which occurred when he was a teenager. He always knew he had a couple of days of missing time, but could only assume what had happened. Then a recent UFO sighting triggered his PTSD and after that every light he saw he thought was a UFO.
Due to the budget of our show, we were able to contract a hypnotherapist to perform a regression on him and see what really happened when he was a teenager. Under regression we learned he and his friend were taken on board a ship and his memory wasn’t completely wiped, but more like cloudy. Due to this traumatic experience, he suffered from PTSD.

Today running a proper Alien Abduction case could not only be expensive but be a liability too, and not just for the abductee, but for the investigator as well. If an investigator is so inexperienced with this kind of paranormal event and botches the investigation, the abductee could suffer mentally and physically as well. The investigator could be held liable for this.

Certain steps must take place when running an Alien Abductee investigation because these types of investigations are more personal. The Abductee’s health always comes first because if this person was actually taken by Aliens, then possibly testing was involved. This means the Abductee must submit themselves to a complete doctor’s examination, with blood and urine analysis. And if you’re concerned the proposed abductee may not be what they claim to be, then they’ll need to take a polygraph to show they’re telling the whole truth so as not to waste your time and money.
True abductees have been taken by aliens, so they may be conducting themselves quite differently than normal due to their mental state. They may become aggressive with you if you disagree with certain things they may happen to say, or they may just drop to their knees and start sobbing due to their experience. Both types of incidents have happened to me.
Oh and here’s one thing you must consider when running an Abduction Investigation. If it’s an active investigation due to on-going events happening to the abductee, then most likely you, the investigator and your team, may become of interest to the aliens. Now you’ve put yourself and your team in harms way.
This is not a walk in the park when you run Alien Abduction investigations, your walk in the park may turn into running from vehicles on a freeway.
Watch your back, stay safe, and don’t be afraid to just decline these types of investigations. No matter what you think you can do, remember Aliens will always do what they want to do with no consideration to you or your witness. And, you may become an abductee too!
